A custom tune with switchable mapping was recently installed on an R56 Mini Cooper S. This allows the driver to switch between different maps on the fly, depending on their driving needs.

The tuning process involved adjusting various parameters such as fuel delivery, ignition timing, and boost pressure to optimize the engine's performance. The switchable maps provide flexibility, allowing the driver to choose between a more aggressive map for performance driving and a more conservative map for daily driving.

To implement switchable mapping we modify the car's ECU software and create different maps for the various driving modes. This required extensive testing and calibration to ensure that each map provided the desired performance while maintaining reliability and safety.
