Let me start by saying that those of you who know me and have dealt with me know I will not bad mouth other tuners in any way, it’s a clear statement I make on our website but this sort of thing really annoys me so I felt the need to type this.

This customer called us after being tuned by a local company , claims of 180bhp were made but when Dyno tested actual figures showed 151bhp, that’s 29bhp off the figures quoted, now modern day tooling allows us to do a virtual read of an ECU, this allows us to tune down the obd port without removing the ECU, it also means that we can overwrite other maps , on this occasion we chose to bench the Bosch ECU , doing this allows us an actual read of the data programmed on to the car.

With a full read including eeprom data the current map was checked, with generic percentage increases across the tables and at least 11 map directories missed it’s understandable why this 180bhp BMW only made 151bhp when tested, also we checked for any mods that were made without the client knowing and sure enough the DPF regen function had been turned off as part of a “stage 1” upgrade….

This will stop the car regenning it’s DPF filter , it will then block and cause huge issues, now the chances are the company that installed this software didn’t even know that had been done, perhaps post map logging and test driving afterwards would help you next time guys.

People will ask me ,So who did it? Name and shame them…. I’m not naming any companies it’s not how we work , they know who they are and hopefully realise that the company supplying there “maps” have the reputation they have in the industry for a reason.

You can have all the tuning gear in the world but without proper Logging you’ll only ever be as good as the company supplying you.

We don’t make bold claims like “we are the best ” ,nor make stupid remarks on social media ,what we are is good and consistent with a 1-3 bhp accuracy with our numbers .

There’s a reason we have a waiting list and can’t fit you in the next day guys and this has been proved again and again.
